Aisha Khan & The Rajahs was formed in Spring of 2017 with band members in both London and Barcelona, as we work quite a bit in Spain. The full line up is Vocals, Piano, upright bass, guitar, drums and tenor and baritone sax. All of the band members are experienced and excellent musicians and we play a mix of music from the 1940's and 50's, including Jazz, Blues, Rhythm & Blues, Rock & Roll and Swing, with the odd Calypso or Mambo thrown in for good measure! Aisha Khan sings American roots music, Jazz, Blues and Rhythm & Blues of the 1940’s/50’s. With a nod to the glamour and sophistication of a bygone era and over 30 years of experience, coupled with an unrivalled passion for the music, she combines outstanding original material with powerful cover versions and performs them all with class, soul, talent and wit. Equal Parts sultry Jazz chanteuse and Rhythm and Blues belter, Aisha easily communicates heartbreak, joy and a range of emotions in between, continuing to honour the tradition of the true Divas. She also performed at many private events, including supporting Dame Shirley Bassey before Prince Charles at Highgrove. Subsequently, she was the first vocalist with the 10 piece big band, Blue Harlem performing Swing and Jump Jive. She has sung with Richard Berry, Robert Gordon, James Hunter and Mike Sanchez, amongst others. Her first album Aishaddiction on El Toro records, featured 13 exceptional self-penned tracks. The next, titled The Magnificent Twelve, was a collection of duets with some of the best contemporary Roots music performers in the UK and US today. It includes collaborations with among others, Big Sandy, Ray Gelato, Big Joe Louis, Carl Sonny Leyland, Paul-Ronney Angel and more. Finally, March 2025 saw the release of a great solo Aisha Khan & the Rajahs album full of original jewels, destined to become classics. In 2024 she completed a three week tour of Australia and performed sell out shows in London and the UK including Ronnie Scott’s, Crazy Coqs and the Frisking the Whiskers festival. As well as gigging in England and Europe she has toured in Spain twice, once with her own band and again with legendary pianist Lluis Coloma with further festivals and a tour lined up for April 2025. She has also been involved in promoting regular live Roots music night, Malted Shake and other events. Recent solo performances include events with Pat Reyford’s Lucky Strikes at the Rhythm Riot, the Aisha Khan R&B Revue, Blue Harlem, Cherry Casino & the Gamblers, Robert Gordon and the Barcelona Big Blues Band with Paul Ansell at Screamin’ Festival

I booked Aisha Khan & The Rajahs to perform at Frisking The Whiskers in 2023 and working with them was one of the easiest experiences I’ve had, when engaging with a band. The negotiations were seamless and swift and I had to give barely any direction as to what was required of the band prior to their soundcheck and performance. They literally turned up and then performed without any glitches. The band deliver an exceptional performance, with tight musicianship and perfect sound. They pitched their song choices perfectly for the audience, who were fully absorbed by Aisha’s on-stage presence. Her vocals are incredible and the energy of the band matched hers. It really was a performance to remember. As a result of this, I did ask Aisha to put together an all-female band for the next event that I ran in 2024. Again, I was able to leave this in Aisha’s professional and capable hands. The performance nearly blew the roof off of the venue! Suffice to say, I would love to book Aisha Khan & The Rajahs for future events that I run and can highly recommend her. It was very refreshing to work with someone who was so organised and communicative, in a timely manner, whilst also being able to present her talent on stage and engage fully with the audience. A true star performer and a fabulous band to back her!

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

Aisha Khan and the Rajahs always can perform as anything from a 5-7 piece. At minimum, the line up will include Vocals, acoustic bass, drums, tenor sax and guitar. We can add baritone sax to this and also piano for the full sound.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know and we will do our best to accomodate any changes. Please give us as much notice as possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Sorry, not at the moment, though it's something we are looking at for the future.

How much time do you need to set up?

Ideally we would like to set up between 1-1.5 hours before the guests/audience arrive.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Unfortunately not. the band needs to perform together for the unity of the sound and it is very difficult to roam with some of the larger instruments, say acoustic bass.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event, with a couple of tweaks if need be.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA and lighting is not included in our quotes. We can supply a PA but it would be at extra cost.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The feedback we've often received is that people love the quality of the music and vocals and the authenticity of what we do. They also enjoy the atmosphere we create and the energy and presentation of the whole act. The original material that is part of our set is extremely popular, coupled with our ability to do excellent cover versions.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Most recently, we have done a two week tour of Spain over seven different cities, playing at venues like Peter Rock in Valencia and Gruta 77 in Madrid. We have also played at many London and UK venues and festivals.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We love all the great classic Jazz and Blues singers, especially wome like Bille Holliday, Sarah Vaughan, Ruth Brown and Lavern Baker. There are many more we adore!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

With this particular band, it would have to be headlining at the Screamin' festival in Calella, Spain.
