Brazilian Sway are a pop covers duo with a difference. An Anglo Brazilian pairing originally featured Helena Martins from the Samba Stones. Brazilian Sway are back with a new world class singer Carolina Lelis. This compact duo with a big sound re-imagine much loved pop & soul classics in Brazilian Grooves. Taking the successful idea of playing well known songs & re-arranging them with Brazilian rhythms, they decided to broaden the idea to pop music in general but make it a more intimate duo setting. British born Paul has been working with Brazilian music culture for over 30 years & is a guitarist, band leader, arranger & producer for various larger projects.. Carolina has been a finalist in the Brazilian version of the tv show The Voice, has worked on major projects in her native Brazil & also is a superb composer with her own solo project. She is also completely bi-lingual allowing to sing flawlessly in both English & Portuguese without an accent. They combine perfectly in this unique duo and Paul's original guitar synth sound allows them to achieve an amazingly rich & big sound previously unheard of in a guitar & voice setting. Their repertoire covers pop, rock, r&b and soul music classics from the 60's to the present day.

Both myself & my husband both hate writing bad reviews & would only ever write one if we felt it was both necessary & warranted, in this case, it unfortunately is. Myself & my now husband, booked Brazilian Sway as we first saw them perform at a local pub in Lower Sunbury 6 years ago, fast forward to now & we felt it would be meaningful & ever so special to invite & book them to play on the biggest day of our lives, our wedding day. The performance itself was amazing, the vocals & enthusiasm from Carolina is second to none, she lights up a room with her voice & charm. The issue started the day after our wedding, when Paul, Carolina’s guitarist felt it necessary to message myself & my husband regarding the lack of food provided to them for their one hour performance. Nothing is explicitly stated in Encore’s T&C’s that we must supply food, however Paul felt it necessary to message us the day after our wedding to let us know that he had to buy a meal from a pub on the way home from the performance and he felt it should have been covered. We let Paul know 10 days prior to the performance that a prepaid drinks tab was set up for them both, an opportune moment to let us know that food would also be a requirement. Nothing was mentioned after the performance either and had it been mentioned, something could have been arranged, but you shouldn’t expect something when you don’t communicate it. In addition to this unnecessary message only a day after our wedding, guests have since approached us as a couple to let us know that comments were overhead by Paul as they were packing up, such as “I didn’t really enjoy that, did you?” to his bandmate Carolina. This so utterly disrespectful to us as a couple & our guests, we paid over £600 for this one hour performance that Brazilian Sway provided, it is for our benefit, not theirs, so whether Paul enjoyed it or not is totally irrelevant. Having to apologise to our guests due to the lack of professionalism of the duo for the comments made a few days after our wedding, was not something we wanted, nor should have had to do. Brazilian Sway were also due to arrive & set up before 5pm, with a prompt start time of 5:45pm, due to finish at 6:45pm sharp, as we had our evening suppliers transitioning our venue for the evening set up. Paul messaged my husband via WhatsApp during his speech at 5pm (when they were due to arrive) to let him know that they were running late and would be arriving around 5:45pm. Again, another instance lacking professionalism and punctuality. The professional thing to do in this instance would be to contact the venue direct, with ample notice of lateness. It’s not the grooms job to be co-ordinating suppliers on the day of his wedding, due to the knock on effect it would have to the evening timeline. You just don’t need this stress at your wedding breakfast on your wedding day. We have since been in contact with Encore to raise all the above concerns as we would not want anyone to have to deal with the added stress, lack of professionalism & poor punctuality that we had on our wedding day. We would not have raised any of these concerns & let the comments slide if Paul had not decided to disrespectfully message the next day commenting on him having to buy a meal on his way home. As mentioned above, we paid upwards of £600 for an hour set and to expect food on top of that despite no prior communication is a joke to be quite frank. We hope that Brazilian Sway are aware that these comments were overheard & address these issues for future clients, but as far as recommendations go, we would not recommend them due the above problems that we were subject to.

We’re truly sorry to hear that aspects of your experience with us didn’t meet your expectations, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond. Getting to your venue in the Surrey countryside proved unusually difficult due to unforeseen transport issues and road closures near where our singer is based. Despite these challenges—including multiple delays, diversions, and heavy traffic—we still arrived only 11 minutes before the scheduled start time, and began playing just five minutes later than planned. We communicated updated ETAs as soon as we had reliable information, using the WhatsApp group set up for the day, which seemed the most direct and appropriate channel at the time. While the schedule adjustment created a more rushed setup than usual, we delivered the full requested set list—including a song we learned specially for the occasion and an additional song in Portuguese for the groom’s Brazilian mother, which was warmly received. We’re sorry if a private comment about the stress of performing immediately upon arrival was overheard and misinterpreted. It was not a reflection of the event or your guests, but rather a candid moment between performers in a high-pressure situation. We meant no disrespect and certainly didn’t intend for it to reach anyone outside our duo. Regarding the food provision: many events do include a meal or refreshments for performers, especially when travel is significant. While this wasn’t something we insisted on, we were surprised to learn there wasn’t anything arranged, as this is usually standard. Our message the next day wasn’t meant to complain, but to clarify expectations and better understand what had been agreed, particularly for future bookings. We’re saddened that this experience led to a negative review, especially after we received so many compliments in person from guests on the day. We’ve performed at countless events with professionalism, care, and heart, and it’s important to us that all clients feel they’re in good hands. We always strive to go above and beyond to deliver great music and a joyful atmosphere. Thank you again for the opportunity to be part of your special day, and we wish you both the very best for the future. Warm regards, Paul Rumbol Brazilian Sway

Brazilian Sway provided just what we needed for our corporate event, an ambient Latin vibe in the background whilst guests arrived at the venue, had drinks, ate and mingled. Carolina has a beautiful voice. I would recommend booking Brazilian Sway for an event.

Outstanding Performance by Brazilian Sway at Our Company Reception We were absolutely thrilled to have Brazilian Sway perform at the drinks reception of our recent company event, and they exceeded all expectations. Their performance was the perfect mix of sophistication, energy, and flair—setting a vibrant, uplifting tone from the very start. The duo brought a warm and welcoming presence that instantly engaged our guests. Their blend of smooth Brazilian rhythms & soulful vocals created a fantastic atmosphere, making the reception feel both elegant and lively. It was the ideal backdrop for networking, mingling, and celebrating with colleagues. Their professionalism, talent, and effortless charm were noted by many of our guests, several of whom asked where we found them! Brazilian Sway brought a unique and memorable touch to the evening, and we wouldn't hesitate to book them again. Highly recommended for any corporate event where you want to impress your guests and leave a lasting impression.

A Magical Performance by Brazilian Sway at Our Wedding at The Wharf, Teddington We had the absolute pleasure of having Brazilian Sway perform at our wedding at The Wharf in Teddington—and what a phenomenal experience it was! From the moment they began, the energy in the room completely transformed. Their performance was vibrant, soulful, and utterly captivating, bringing a unique blend of Brazilian rhythm, warmth, and joyful spirit that had all our guests smiling, dancing, and raving about them long after the night ended. The duo’s chemistry and charisma were infectious. Every note felt authentic and full of heart. They were not just performers, but true entertainers who connected with everyone in the room—young and old alike. Their setlist was perfectly tailored to the mood, seamlessly moving from gentle, romantic melodies during dinner to upbeat, celebratory tunes that got everyone on their feet. They created a beautiful, unforgettable atmosphere that elevated the entire evening. If you're looking for something truly special for your event, I cannot recommend Brazilian Sway highly enough. They brought sunshine, soul, and an unforgettable touch of Brazil to our special day. We’re so grateful to have had them as part of our celebration!
