Eleanor (Ellie) Holt started playing the violin when she was 7 years old and has been playing professionally for over 12 years. Eleanor studied at the University of Huddersfield for her Bachelor of Music, majoring in performance with Concettina Del Vecchio. She then continued to achieve her Master of Arts by Research and finally a Doctor of Philosophy (Music), completing her final degree in 2021. Eleanor has been fortunate to perform to wide audiences: as a soloist, within an orchestra, in a quartet and in a band. During her studies, Eleanor was featured on a television competitive show 'All Together Now' and toured with Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra around China, covering 9 concerts in 10 days. Although classically trained, Eleanor has a passion for playing pop/rock covers for events and has began playing Fiddle for various UK country artists in their bands. She has mainly covered live events but has also taken up session work and filming for artists.

Ellie is absolutely amazing at what she does, we had Ellie play at our wedding, I wanted a 4 piece string quartet, Ellie managed to get some friends together to peform, all I had to do was send a list of songs over that I wanted, Ellie spent so much time and effort turning them into songs that could be played on the violin and cello. It was so special and beautiful to have them perform in the church and at the venue. If you're looking for a violinist for a special occasion then Ellie is definitely the one!❤️❤️

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I believe my personal touch and attention to detail is what makes my performances special for the client. It could be choosing music to reflect them as a couple or their guests. It could be having a special song in the set or even dressing to fit in with their colour scheme or theme.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

For weddings and private events I have played in many Yorkshire venues including The Earl of Doncaster, Thornhurst Manor, Wortley Hall and Bunny Hill Farm. My latest band gig venues included Dingwalls Camden, Rodeos Wolverhampton and Freight Island Manchester.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I love the Vitamin String Quartet. They manage to make string appear cool with their arrangements of mainstream popular songs and they break the stereotypical idea of a classical string quartet. I also love country music and am enjoying exploring improvisation on the fiddle, which has become a prominent feature in lots of new country music.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Touring around China with the Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra has been a huge highlight in my musical career. This included 9 concerts in 10 days, a different venue every night and performing to sell out shows.

Do you have different line-up options?

The main service I provide is as a soloist, but there is the option to have additional players (duo, trio, quartet) for an event or wedding. This would need to be discussed with an additional fee on top of the normal charge and would be subject to availability of the other musicians for that particular event. What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know sooner than later. I understand that sometimes timings may change slightly when in the planning stage of an event.

How much time do you need to set up?

I will need about 30 minutes to set up. This gives me time to warm up, check the sound and make sure I am in the right spot ready to wow your guests.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set lists are crafted from many performances and learning what works best to ensure guests have an amazing time. However, I am happy to chat through to make sure we find what works for your event. If there's a special song you may want to add in, we can factor this in too.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I will bring all my own equipment to ensure that the performance runs smoothly.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song isn't included in the song list there may still be a chance I may already know it. If there is a special song you'd like me to learn I am happy to do this for you. There would be an additional fee for this, as it adds into the planning and rehearsal time.
