Our band Heyworth & The Sunshine Band, we don’t just play jazz — we live it. Our passion for music is what brought us together, but it’s the electrifying connection with our audiences that keeps us performing, time and time again. Each note we play is a reflection of our shared love for the genre of Classic Jazz & Latin Jazz, and our dedication to keeping the spirit of jazz alive in the modern world. We perform music because it is, quite simply, our calling. Jazz, with its boundless freedom, improvisational beauty, and rich history, offers us an endless canvas to express emotion and create unforgettable experiences. For us, jazz isn’t just background music — it’s a living conversation between the musicians and the audience. Every performance is an opportunity to tell stories, evoke emotions, and transport listeners to a place where rhythm and melody meet in perfect harmony. , Our band is made up of seasoned professionals: Singer: Karen Heyworth(25 year + Career in Jazz Performing & Musical Theatre, Henry Knudsen:Sax/Clarinet,30 Year Career as Jazz Player & Hide Takemoto(Guitar Genius, UK Yamaha Musician Of The Year 2024); each bringing a unique journey and mastery of their instrument. Collectively, we hold degrees from some of the UK’s finest music/drama conservatoires, including the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the The Royal Central School Of Speech And Drama. Individually, we’ve honed our craft through years of rigorous training, both in classical foundations and contemporary performance, ensuring we approach every arrangement with technical excellence and creative flair.

Karen Heyworth is a talented singer and performer with a diverse background in drama, dance, and singing. She received her training at the London Studio Centre and has since engaged in various professional performances. Notably, she made her directing debut with 'After Miss Julie' and received a nomination for her work. She has also written and directed plays for local theatre. In addition to her theatrical endeavours, Karen has showcased her vocal talents in musical performances. I have watched Karen's multifaceted skills and dedication to her craft over the years and she is a commendable artist in the performing arts community. Do you have different line-up options?

Our main act is as a Trio. Singer Karen Heyworth, Guitar(Hide Takemoto) & Sax(Henry Knudsen. We also perform as a Duo, is required. Singer/Sax & Sax/Guitar. Further if required we also can add pianist, Bass Guitarist and Drummer.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are flexible to change timings, within reasonable practical application. We are happy to cater for our customers needs and circumstances,if they change up to a concert.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We can stream Jazz music across a wide range between our sets. Before and between sets.

How much time do you need to set up?

1 hour. We like to be in good time setting up before a gig.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We are flexible to a certain extent to do this, according to need and wishes of our clients.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes you can pick songs from our set lists. We are interested to have comprehensive pre-event discussions with our clients in order to make sure our client gets the optimal musical experience for their event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA system is included in the quote. If you have other performers or DJ's they have to supply their own PA System. We are happy to stream music through our PA system before the gig and in between sets.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If you wish to have special request songs that are not on our set list, we can learn and deliver them on the day. We need to be notified about this appox. 2 weeks before the event. There will be an additional charge of 30£ for every special request song we perform that is not on our beforehand presented setlist.
