It was such a pleasure having James perform at our wedding reception and ceremony, he played our favourite jazz songs beautifully and even learnt our special request to be played during the ceremony! James was extremely organised and thorough, promptly replying to messages and enabling the whole process to go very easily. Our guests were very impressed and we all loved the ambience, making our day even more special, thank you so much!

James and his band were exceptional as the live music entertainment at the post-show party for our recent West End Opening Night. They judged the room and atmosphere perfectly and were incredibly well received. Their music style was ideal for our post-show celebration which was attended by around 800 people, including some VIPs. A true highlight of the evening! We would definitely recommend them for other press nights and hope to work with them again.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Previous clients have described me as a perfect fit for their occasion, whether that's to be background and provide the ambience, or to take centre stage and get audiences up and dancing. Clients have also appreciated my jazz reinterpretations of more contemporary songs and genres.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed at: Four Seasons Hotel (Residency), The National Portrait Gallery (Residency), Ronnie's Bar -Ronnie Scotts, St Martin-in-the-Fields - The Crypt, The Ned London, Gerry's Club Soho, The Rudolph Steiner Theatre, Hootananny - Brixton, And many more

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I'm inspired by a huge range of genres and eras, in recent years most of my influences come from old and new jazz musicians from Bill Evans to Robert Glasper. I'm also inspired by contemporary artists, particularly those whose music I can make my own arrangements of, most recently Dua Lipa's "Don't Start Now" for example. I also have my roots in rock music!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I performed with my trio for West End stars, theatre producers, actors, artists and more at the official afterparty for the hit play "The Motive and the Cue" by The National Theatre and Neal Street Productions founded by Sam Mendes.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event, please just let me know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely! This is a popular request and I offer this service for free and I am happy to discuss playlists and any other details with you.

How much time do you need to set up?

If there is a piano on site and no PA required, I usually arrive up to 30 mins before the first set is to begin. If there is a PA and/or I am providing my own sound then I will arrive up to an hour early.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes of course, as long as the piano is in working order and in tune, then I'm happy to play on it!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

If you have a preference of some, or even all, songs in my repertoire then you are of course welcome to select them yourself, however I am happy to interpret the room and guests and choose accordingly.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes, I can bring my own keyboard and small portable PA system if the venue cannot provide these. This may be taken into consideration in the price quote, particularly for longer distances, due to the additional labour required.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, if your preferred song isn't included in my repertoire, I am happy to learn up to new 2 special song requests for you!
