Miku Yasukawa

Miku Yasukawa was born in Tokushima, Japan. She studied at Kunitachi College of Music and Tokyo University of the Arts before moving to the U.K. where she completed her studies at Guildhall School of Music and Drama receiving an Artist Diploma with distinction. In 2023 she was a finalist for the prestigious Gold Medal of Guildhall and performed at the Barbican Centre. Miku played the role of Norina in Don Pasquale with Hurn Court Opera to great critical acclaim, including a five star review from Opera Now magazine. Other recent highlights include performing Ravel’s Shéhérazade and Beethoven's Symphony no.9 under the baton of Jonathan Nott with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Brahms’s German Requiem with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (UK), and with Bach Collegium Japan under Masaaki Suzuki. The latter has been recorded and will be released on CD under the BIS Records label. Miku also appeared in Schubert's Mass in A flat major D.678 with Bach Collegium Japan and Zemlinsky's Lyrische Symphonie with Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa(Japan) under Masaaki Suzuki. She will soon be performing St Matthew Passion with Bach Collegium Japan under Masaaki Suzuki in 2025, with Netherlands Bach Society under Masaaki Suzuki in 2026. In April 2024, Miku appeared as the Celestial Voice in Berlioz's La Damnation of Faust performed by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra(UK) under the baton of Kazuki Yamada, and was broadcast on BBC Radio3. This concert also received five stars from The Telegraph. In November 2024, she performed in Faure's Requiem with Orchestre des Concerts Pasdeloup (France) under the baton of Sachio Fujioka.
