Millie performed at a ceremonial event we hosted to reflect on the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and to mark the accession of His Majesty King Charles III. The event took place at Lloyd's of London to an audience of just under 5,000 people and livestreamed globally. She was an absolute joy to work with; coming up with the pieces to perform which were so fitting for the occasion. She totally understood the brief and her performance of both pieces were not only incredibly moving to everyone, but also the highlight of the event. I can't recommend her enough or thank her enough for being such a special part of our event. It's a day we shall never forget.

For example, I’ve tried my darn hardest to make Angels by Robbie Williams work on pipes, but it really is just not meant to be.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I care greatly about quality of sound when it comes to piping, doing my best to show the instrument at its most beautiful. I’d say also, reading a moment and ensuring performance and timings blend seamlessly. My experience playing a variety of settings, including over 100 services and ceremonies, seems a useful source of advice / assurance for clients.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I am a classically trained pianist, so I guess the way I play pipes has been influenced in some way by that. Same said for trombone and styles of playing in jazz/ big bands. Perhaps use of ornamentation and expression leans somewhat towards piano phrasing, than a military style of piping. For female pipers, Dark Isle Tess is a great source of inspo 🎶

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I’ve done a few TV gigs, through ITV and SKY. For live audiences, I’d say the Queen’s memorial at Lloyds of London - 5,000 people, broadcasted live. I had been piping professionally for only a year at that point, and had little formal piping experience so it was a super one to play. Recently travelled to Trinidad for the King’s Birthday celebrations

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I understand there can be delays and hiccups when organising events, so I’ll always try and be flexible to meet your timings.

How much time do you need to set up?

None! A piper is often booked as a key moment musician. Such as an aisle entrance, funeral committal, or suprise party. I arrive warmed up and ready to play 🎶

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes! If there are particular songs from my repertoire you'd like played, let me know before the event. Or I can send a list of favourites to suit the moment. If you have a tune in mind I haven’t listed, I might know it or be able to do a cover for pipes.
