Ryoka Hagiwara

I am an award-winning composer, songwriter, pianist, and keyboardist based in Edinburgh, UK. Originally from Tokyo, Japan, I grew up in London, playing piano and composing from the age of 2. My music references my cultural identity and heritage through the exploration of music and space, often incorporating swirling and delicate piano melodies. With an undergraduate degree in piano performance and a Master's degree in composition, I am able to perform piano in various genres, including classical, jazz, pop, blues, and rock. I am also available to create special renditions and arrangements of different songs suited to your needs! I have performed piano both solo and in ensembles. I have multiple awards from various competitions and auditions, as well as diplomas from notable masterclasses worldwide. Most recently, I composed the score for an animated short fantasy film entitled Aster, which was presented at the Anchorage International Film Festival. In 2024, I also scored the live-action short thriller film, Special Violent Interests, shown at the Raindance Film Festival.
