About The Sunstones

We are an indie rock band from Birmingham, playing energetic beat music. We’ll take any opportunity to give you a lively show that we can!
Rock band
Birmingham

The Sunstones started in mid 2022, initially playing psychedelic rock, drawing strong inspiration from The Beatles and Pink Floyd. The Wedding Present have also been a huge influence on our songwriting. However, as we played more shows and enjoyed the livelier songs and the reaction they got from audiences, we realised our heart was in playing energetic indie rock to really get our audiences going, and to give a lively show every time we appear. We have performed at The Sunflower Lounge several times, as well as around other areas of Birmingham, Solihull, Dudley and Wolverhampton. We also recently performed on The Beatles stage at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. Our current lineup is Alfie Taylor on lead vocals and guitar, Harry Sharpe on bass and Aaron White on drums.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients love our infectious, almost punk-like energy that we bring to shows. We have crafted an inviting nature into our performances.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed at The Sunflower Lounge, Muthers Studios and BOA Stage And Screen Academy in Birmingham, Red By Night in Brierley Hill, Arden Hall in Castle Bromwich and The Core Theatre in Solihull.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

The Beatles are our main influence, however we also owe much of our creative output to Pink Floyd, The Beach Boys, The Wedding Present, Guided By Voices and The Doors.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Our most high-profile performance was on the show Music Mash as a musical guest, where we performed our song Venus’ Friends. This show will be the most accessible to a wider audience

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes! The singer - Alfie Taylor - is also the lead guitarist and primary songwriter.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our lineup is as follows: Lead guitar and vocals, bass and drums, however a solo acoustic set played by Alfie Taylor can be arranged.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We will try our very best to work around any timing changes as flexibly as we can so that your event runs as smoothly as possible. As long as we know in advance of any changes, we will do our best to work around them.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Unfortunately we do not provide DJ service.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up around an hour before our performance, and we typically run a quick soundcheck to ensure that our sound will be as attractive as possible to everybody at the event.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We typically have to be very picky with the songs we select for our sets to preserve the singer’s voice, and so unfortunately we do not usually allow this. We would be happy to accept a push in a certain direction in terms of the style of songs we should play, but not specific songs sadly.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We typically require a PA system to be able to perform, however we have all the necessary amps, guitars, a microphone and a drum kit.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

This is not something we would typically be open to do as we have to select our covers very carefully to cater for our baritone vocal range, however we will do our best to learn any songs that are burning requests as long as they are within that range.
