"Ksneiia's playing was beautiful. She played some beautiful pieces for an hour, a combination of her gypsy folk, jaunty favourites and more. The finale was Concerning Hobbits, which she perfected. This was my first time exploring a service like this and I will proudly tell anyone who will listen to us it - and certainly refer them to her. Her communication was spot-on. So proactive and understanding. She began promptly, arrived very well presented and had everything organised as agreed. She shared her set-list and we discussed a special request that she learnt specifically. I'm sure we both shared a little anxiety about the weather and planning around that, but even with some unpredictable wind conditions her playing was magnificent. This was a huge moment for me, as I was proposing to my now Fiancé,(Yay!) And I wanted everything to run smoothly. We exchanged conversation in the Encore app, and then expecting Ksneiia would have other clients to message I pivoted over to email around 1 week before the planned performance, to respect the space and not be over-chatty and take away her time. This was a great way to do things, and I felt assured that both the Encore process and our emails were secure. The Encore team also reached out as a point of contact for reassurance and to advise on specific steps that happen post deposit/post reservation paid. My Fiancé loved the music and was so happy to have had a private and memorable experience, perfectly timed for the sunset in a rather unpredictable British weekend of weather! What kind of music can a violinist play?
Pretty much anything! Violinists will usually be most comfortable playing classical music, but that doesn't mean they won't be able whip up fresh renditions of your favourite pop, folk, or jazz tunes. Best to check first before asking them to play krautrock though.
Will I need to provide the violinist with any equipment?
Other than a seat for breaks, probably not. If your venue is small, they will likely play unamplified. All they'll need to make the music happen is their violin, a bow, and a receptive audience (oh, and probably a music stand). If your venue is larger, they should be able to provide amplification.
Do violinists normally play with backing tracks?
It depends. If you only want the violinist’s performance to include classical pieces, they probably won’t need backing tracks. If the violinist’s performance includes pop songs or other styles, they may be able to provide backing tracks to fill out their performance. They’ll often perform the melody line of popular tunes, alongside pre-prepared backing tracks (think: ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran, or ‘Skyfall’ by Adele - these songs sound great played on violin!).
